Atlanta Academy was proud to host the 2nd debate of the North Metro School Debate League and our team had a fantastic performance. We came in second place and battled in all three debate topics in true Gladiator style. Some highlights included a perfect “50” score by the team of Georgia L., Nilesh N., Daniela O., and Nora E. Atlanta Academy’s K-3rd grade chorus was asked to perform at the National Association of Independent School conference in March. “It was such an honor to be selected to perform at this prestigious conference,” Maggie Shirley, Atlanta Academy Performing Arts Director, said. “Our students are so excited, and this honor is a testament to our strong Performing Arts program here at Atlanta Academy.”
Coach Deubel was named the 2017 Athletic Director of the Year for MAAC Division II and III. This award is voted on by area Athletic Directors. In the 2016-17 school year, Coach Deubel coached the girls volleyball, girls basketball A and girls basketball B to state championships, and sent three players to the MAAC All-Star Team. Coach Deubel has grown a respected program at Atlanta Academy and is constantly adding to the sports offerings. “It is an honor to be recognized by my peers,” said Coach Deubel. …

The Red Ribbon Campaign was established to raise awareness of the killing and destruction cause by drugs in America. Today, the Red Ribbon serves as a catalyst to mobilize communities to educate youth and encourage participation in drug prevention activities.The 2017 theme, Your Future is Key, So Stay Drug Free, focuses on our children and their future. On October 23, Officer LaGala joined our Lower School and Middle School students for a “Say No to Drugs” presentation.
